Arboricultural Services - Arboricultural Method Statement

What is an Arboricultural Method Statement?

An Arboricultural Method Statement provides detailed, step-by step-instructions relating to tree works and tree protection measures to be implemented during the construction process.

This Method Statement is often a requirement of planning permission on sites where trees may be impacted, and is developed from the Arboricultural Impact Assessment. The Arboricultural Method Statement is written clearly and comprehensively for use as a reference document by Contractors during the construction process. It provides all the information required for contractors to fully protect trees during construction.

The local Tree Officer may carry out site visits during construction to ensure that tree protection measures have been implemented. Adherence to a good Arboricultural Method Statement will ensure that your contractors are working to ensure the long term viability and safety of your trees.

How can LSC help?

Our Arboricultural Consultants have provided Arboricultural Method Statements for a whole range of developments; from previously undeveloped sites to existing college and commercial sites where expansion and improvement proposals need to work alongside the existing soft landscaping.

We would bring this experience to your project, to provide a high quality, comprehensive and easily comprehendable Protection Plan for the trees which might be affected by the proposals. This gives you the confidence that the long-term viability of the trees is secured and gives your Contractors the information they need to get the work done effectively and safely.

Our plans are completed to Best Practice as outlined in the British Standards BS 5837 guidelines, and our reports consistently provide the information required by our clients to secure Planning Permission.

Where a development is proceeding in close proximity to retained trees, an Arboricultural Method Statement is essential to ensure that construction proceeds whilst ensuring the long term health and viability of your trees.
