Bird Surveys - Specialist Surveys

What is a Specialist Bird Survey?

As well as the generic characterisation of a site in terms of the assemblage of nesting or wintering birds, it is sometimes necessary to undertake targeted surveys for a key species. These are often required for rarer species or those particularly susceptible to disturbance, such that they have additional protection measures.

Such species may include black redstart, little ringed plover or barn owl.

Often there are key times when the surveys need to be completed to ensure that the results are robust, and a detailed understanding of the species is needed to meet this.

How can LSC help?

Our expert Ornithologists can conduct specific surveys to meet with the relevant Best Practice standards for that particular species - whether this is a barn owl within an old farm complex, a little ringed plover in a disused industrial site or a black redstart in a brownfield site.

If your site has particular bird species which require targeted surveys, we have the background and expertise to assist with the design and undertaking of this work.
