Pragmatic Ecological Services

Ecological Surveys

Landscape Science Consultancy has provided high quality Ecological Services for over 25 years. Our skilled Ecologists can support your project every step of the way, from design-stage inputs through to Habitat Assessments, Protected Species Surveys, Reports to support Planning, Protected Species Licencing and Site Supervision works.

Phase 1 and Scoping Surveys

Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and Ecological Scoping Surveys are the starting point for all ecological work on site - our experienced team of ecologists can undertake an expert survey and provide you with this all-important baseline.

Great Crested Newt Surveys

Developments affecting ponds, or habitat close to ponds, can require newt surveys. Our surveyors can assess habitat suitability, conduct eDNA and presence/absence surveys and obtain a Protected Species Licence if necessary.

Otter and Watervole Surveys

Otter and watervole can use a site in many ways and interpretation of field signs is key to ensuring that they are accounted for appropriately. Our experienced surveyors can help build this baseline understanding to inform your proposals.

Bat Surveys

We can provide a suite of services relating to bats - from initial inspections of trees and buildings, emergence and re-entry surveys, whole-site assessments, Protected Species Licence applications and site supervision.

Badger Surveys

Badgers can use a site in many ways and interpretation of field signs is key to ensuring that they are accounted for. Our experienced surveyors can help build this baseline and apply for a Badger Licence if necessary.

Botanical Surveys

LSC has a team of experienced botanists who can assist you with characterising your site - from simple Phase 1 Habitat Mapping through to NVC surveys or specialist surveys for the distribution of rarer species such as orchids.

Reptile Surveys

Our team of ecologists can provide a survey to meet your site requirements - from preliminary site assessment for reptiles through to presence/absence surveys, population counts and translocations, mitigation and habitat creation.

Bird Surveys

We offer a wide range of bird surveys - from Breeding Birds to Wintering Birds, pre-clearance nesting checks, to specialist surveys targeted at key species such as nightjar or black redstart - our ornithologists can help!

Crayfish Surveys

Our native crayfish can be impacted where proposals affect the ponds and rivers in which they live. Our crayfish specialists can undertake surveys to establish presence and population, and apply for a Licence if necessary.

Our skilled Ecologists can support your project every step of the way, from design-stage inputs through to a variety of report outputs - from simple Ecological Assessments to support small-scale Planning Applications through to Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements and documentation to inform Appropriate Assessments.

Reports to inform Planning

Planners often require information on the ecological impact of a Proposed Development - our team provide reports tailored to the size, scale and requirements of your site.

Ecology Chapter for ES Submission

Our ecologists are experienced in the production of Ecology Chapters for inclusion within an Environmental Statement report in accordance with the EIA Guidelines.

Public Inquiry
