Reports to Inform Planning
What is a Report to Inform Planning?
Ecological Information on a proposed Development Site is often required to inform a Planning Application. The information can vary from a simple Site Assessment (often called a Phase 1 Survey) through to detailed Protected Species surveys or Mitigation Strategies depending on the site, the species and habitats present, and the scale of the proposals.
These reports need to be accurate, expert and professional to ensure that all ecological receptors onsite are identified; that they are accounted or mitigated for; and that the Local Planning Authority (LPA) has the information they require to discharge their Statutory Duties and grant permission for your scheme.
The style and requirements of the Ecological Information will vary from project to project, and experience and expert judgement is required to get this right. Finding the right balance avoids delays which can occur if the LPA requires further information, but also avoids unnecessary costs if the Ecologist undertakes more extensive surveys than are required.
